“Shut up!” yelled Jack as he stepped in front of Rapunzel, turning his head slightly to the left, and talked to her while keeping his eyes on the enemy “Don’t listen to her. She’s not your mother. She never was.”
Gothel shrugged “Well technically no, but I am the person who just happened to raise her for the past 18 years. I bathed, changed and nursed her. And what does she do in return? Betrays me and runs of into the arms of people she hardly even knows, leaving me behind to turn into dust.”
Jack could hear Rapunzel breathing getting shallower.
“Ye kidnapped her!” shouted Merida
“Quiet blood traitor!” Gother turned to her sharply, with a menacing stare “Or would you like another mark to remind you?”
Hiccup could feel the red-head tense up in his arms, his grip tighten around her in return.
“But enough about betrayal and what not. Let’s talk about you, boy.”
Jack gripped his wand “What about me?”
“What about you?” Gothel laughed mockingly “Other than the fact that you’re the only one getting in the way of the Nightmare King, you mean? Don’t play games with me. This is all pointless. Stop running and give up.”
Jack raised his wand higher “Never.”
Pointing the knife at him, she spoke “Don’t run away from the prophecy. He will win.”
Hiccup’s mind was racing. He didn’t know what to do. They were outnumbered by one and though Jack had a wand, until Tooth came back with the snow globe they had no way of getting out of here. So even with Toothless growling behind him, getting out of the manor would involve battling the wizards standing guard and Hiccup could take a pretty good guess of how that would turn out.
But just as Gothel took a slow step forward with Alvin the Treacherous in tow, Hiccup problem was solved when he felt a pull of the wind behind them as the portal opened, sucking them through.
Raising her arm, Gothel threw the knife in their direction. Smiling when she saw the portal close, taking the knife with it.
